In the first half of this year, the Baixiang County Bureau of Quality Supervision and Administration in Hebei Province launched a comprehensive campaign to inspect and regulate the local fertilizer market. As part of their efforts, they have handled over 18 batches of substandard chemical fertilizers, totaling more than 80 tons.
The bureau deployed over 170 law enforcement officers across six townships, visiting more than 80 administrative villages to conduct thorough inspections and random checks on two fertilizer production companies and 36 distribution points throughout the county. A total of 49 batches of fertilizers were sampled, with 31 passing quality tests and 18 found to be non-compliant. The primary issue identified was an insufficient concentration of active ingredients, affecting 18 fertilizer manufacturers, 12 retail outlets, and a large volume of products—over 80 tons in total.
In response, the bureau has taken strict actions against the involved companies and distribution units, enforcing relevant laws and regulations to ensure compliance. These measures have helped to maintain market order and protect farmers' rights, ensuring they receive safe and effective agricultural inputs. This initiative reflects the local government's ongoing commitment to food safety and sustainable farming practices.
