Qinghai's first soft-switching equipment put into operation

Qinghai's first soft-switching equipment put into operation On December 13, Qinghai Electric Power Company officially launched its first set of soft-switching equipment, marking a significant milestone in the company’s technological development. This initiative represents a major step forward in modernizing the power communication network and embracing next-generation networking solutions. Softswitch technology is considered a core component of future networks. Unlike traditional switching systems, it doesn’t require separate infrastructure. Instead, it operates efficiently by integrating with existing local area networks, reducing overall costs and offering greater flexibility in network configuration. It also makes it easier to introduce new services and support personalized user experiences, enhancing the intelligence and scalability of the system. Before this upgrade, Qinghai Electric Power's administrative exchange network was built on a single-node star topology, which had limitations in terms of capacity, redundancy, and reliability. The tandem switch relay network lacked the ability to reroute traffic, making it vulnerable to failures. To address these issues, Qinghai ICT Co., Ltd. carefully designed and implemented a plan that introduced a softswitch as a tandem switch. This successfully integrated with the existing system, power companies, and public networks, enabling "load sharing" and "circuitous networking." As a result, the network topology was upgraded from a single-node star to a two-node star structure, significantly improving reliability and performance. The softswitch equipment used in the project is Huawei’s SOFTX3000 model, featuring 48 relay directions. It supports up to 2000 analog subscribers and 300 multimedia users. The system allows access through traditional telephone lines, IP networks, and fiber optics, supporting long-distance connectivity. Additionally, it can work with third-party application servers to offer a range of value-added services such as CRBT (Calling Line Identification Presentation), voicemail, and more. Users can even personalize their experience by customizing ringtones and other features. The project started on October 22, 2012, and was completed with the successful commissioning of the switch equipment on November 30. By December 13, an expert panel approved the system, and it was officially put into operation. This marks a new era for Qinghai Electric Power, greatly enhancing the security and stability of its administrative exchange network while meeting the growing demand for advanced communication services.
