Hebei investigated more than 80 tons of unqualified fertilizer

In the ongoing effort to ensure the quality of agricultural inputs, the Baixiang County Bureau of Quality Supervision and Administration in Hebei Province has taken significant action this year. Over the past months, they have uncovered and handled a total of 18 batches of substandard chemical fertilizers, amounting to over 80 tons. This marks a major step in protecting farmers and maintaining market integrity. To carry out these inspections, the bureau mobilized more than 170 law enforcement officers, who visited over 80 administrative villages across six townships. They conducted thorough checks on two local fertilizer manufacturing companies and 36 distribution points throughout the county. A total of 49 fertilizer samples were collected during the process, with 31 of them passing quality standards and 18 failing. The primary issue found in the unqualified products was a lack of sufficient active ingredients, which can significantly affect crop yield and soil health. These problematic fertilizers were linked to 18 different manufacturers and 12 retail outlets, highlighting the widespread nature of the issue. In response, the bureau has taken strict measures against the involved companies and distribution centers, enforcing regulations to ensure compliance and prevent future violations. This initiative not only helps to safeguard the rights of farmers but also contributes to a more transparent and reliable fertilizer market. By addressing these issues head-on, the authorities are reinforcing consumer confidence and promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region. The efforts reflect a growing commitment to quality control and public safety in rural areas.
