On the afternoon of November 22, 2012, the Fourth Members' Congress of the Sixth Council of the China Energy Conservation Association was held at the Beijing International Convention Center. Key figures from the association, including Fu Zhiwei, Yang Zhenhuai, Jia Zhijie, Wang Qinping, Li Juchang, Bai Rongchun, Fang Qing, Zhang Jianhong, Huang Ming, and Li Chunsheng, along with Yang Bo, Deputy Director of the National Energy Conservation Center, were present at the event. Representatives from various national institutions such as the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the Standardization Administration of China, and other industry organizations also attended.
The meeting was chaired by Wang Qinping, the Executive Vice President of the China Energy Conservation Association. Vice Chairman and Secretary-General Fang Qing delivered the "2012 China Energy Conservation Association Work Report," highlighting the significant strides made in promoting energy conservation and emissions reduction under the guiding principle of scientific development. The report emphasized the diversity and effectiveness of the association’s initiatives, which have strengthened societal awareness and influence. Over the past year, the association successfully organized several influential events, including the "China Energy Conservation and Low-Carbon Development Forum," "Energy Saving China" promotions, the "China Energy Strategy High-Level Forum," the "China-US Clean Energy Forum," the establishment of the "China Green Lighting Education Demonstration Base," and participation in the "Two Hours of Lights Out in Asia." These endeavors garnered substantial attention across government, business, and society.
In addition to organizing impactful events, the association has provided substantial support to enterprises through policy analysis, standard-setting, and technological research. By conducting thorough investigations and fostering exchanges, the association has helped businesses address critical challenges. Publicity and training programs have also been instrumental in advancing energy-efficient industries and promoting eco-friendly practices among the general public. Delegates at the congress engaged in a dynamic discussion, acknowledging the association’s accomplishments while offering valuable suggestions for its future growth. The General Assembly approved the work report and elected members of the Board of Directors. The Solar Energy Professional Committee and the Energy Conservation Service Industry Committee presented their respective reports for 2012.
Concluding the meeting, Fu Zhiwei, Chairman of the China Energy Conservation Association, delivered a speech titled "Enhancing Service Awareness and Promoting Harmonious Development: New Contributions to Ecological Civilization Construction." He underscored the pivotal role of energy conservation and emissions reduction in realizing the goals set forth by the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party, emphasizing that these efforts are essential for sustainable development. Fu encouraged members to embrace innovation and transformation, preparing for the rapid expansion of the energy conservation and environmental protection sectors. Approximately 300 participants, representing government bodies, industry associations, enterprises, and the media, attended the conference.
This gathering not only celebrated past successes but also charted a course for future collaboration and progress in the field of energy conservation and sustainability.
