On the afternoon of November 22, 2012, the 4th Member Congress of the 6th Council of the China Energy Conservation Association took place at the Beijing International Convention Center. Esteemed leaders such as Fu Zhiwei, Yang Zhenhuai, Jia Zhijie, Wang Qinping, Li Juchang, Bai Rongchun, Fang Qing, Zhang Jianhong, Huang Ming, and Li Chunsheng, along with Yang Bo, Deputy Director of the National Energy Conservation Center, graced the event. Other attendees included representatives from the National People's Congress Financial and Economic Committee, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the National Standards Commission, and various industry associations.
Wang Qinping, Executive Vice President of the China Energy Conservation Association, presided over the meeting. Vice Chairman Fang Qing delivered the "2012 China Energy Conservation Association Work Report," highlighting the organization's extensive efforts in promoting energy conservation and emissions reduction under the guidance of the scientific development concept. The report emphasized the richness of content, diversity of activities, and tangible results achieved throughout the year. It also underscored the association’s role as a bridge between the government, industry, and enterprises, contributing significantly to societal progress in sustainability.
Fang Qing outlined the association’s accomplishments across eight key areas, reflecting both successes and areas for improvement. Notable initiatives included the "China Energy Conservation and Low-Carbon Development Forum," "Energy Saving China" campaign, "China Energy Strategy High-level Forum," "China-US Clean Energy Forum," the establishment of the "China Green Lighting Education Demonstration Base," and participation in the "Two Hours of Lights Out in Asia." These events garnered significant attention and fostered positive changes in attitudes towards energy efficiency.
Additionally, the association focused on supporting enterprises through policy analysis, technological innovation, and capacity building. By organizing workshops and outreach programs, they aimed to enhance public awareness and drive the growth of energy-saving industries. The delegates engaged in spirited discussions about the report, offering valuable feedback and suggestions for future endeavors.
Following the discussions, the General Assembly approved the work report and elected members of the Board of Directors. Committees like the Solar Energy Professional Committee and the Energy Conservation Service Industry Committee presented their contributions for 2012. Fu Zhiwei, Chairman of the China Energy Conservation Association, concluded the proceedings with a speech titled "Improving Service Awareness and Promoting Harmonious Development: Making New Contributions to the Construction of Ecological Civilization." He emphasized the importance of ecological civilization in national development and urged members to embrace energy conservation and low-carbon practices as drivers of sustainable progress.
With over 300 participants from government agencies, industry bodies, enterprises, and the media, the conference highlighted the collective commitment to advancing energy conservation in China.
