Christie Board CKD, CBD has spent over two decades immersed in the design and construction industry. Her passion for creating spaces began early in life—drawing floor plans and exploring model homes with her mother was a favorite pastime. Partnering with her husband, Robert Board, they’ve successfully navigated the construction world in Oregon and, for the last 15 years, in Prescott, Arizona. Their work focuses on crafting custom homes and handling renovations. In 2006, Christie made the bold decision to return to school and obtain her certification in kitchen and bath design through the NKBA. At the time, this seemed risky as the 2008 recession hit shortly after she completed her studies. Reflecting on those uncertain times, Christie admitted to questioning her choice. “Why didn’t I just become a dental hygienist?” she joked. However, her investment in kitchen and bath design proved to be a lifesaver for their business during the downturn. It helped them pivot and establish a niche in their community. Today, Board by Board operates not only as a construction company but also as a specialized provider of kitchen and bath design services. “Earning my certifications opened doors and gave me the confidence to recommend top-tier products like Waterstone,” Christie explained. The couple had lived in their 3,600-square-foot Prescott home for 15 years and decided it was time for a full transformation. Board transformed the space into a cozy yet stylish retreat that feels both French country and glamorous. She described the final product as “simple but beautiful.” The laundry room, once a cluttered space, now exudes elegance. Custom white cabinets, reminiscent of the kitchen but with distinct details, provide ample storage. Soapstone countertops pair beautifully with marble basket weave tile wainscoting. A chandelier shaped like a birdcage adds both functionality and flair. But the pièce de résistance is undoubtedly the Waterstone Pulldown Faucet in polished nickel paired with a farmhouse-style, deep-fluted sink. “That faucet is a work of art,” Christie remarked. “It has such a vintage French vibe.” Additional touches include a pullout trash unit and an ironing board cleverly concealed within a drawer. A dog door was added beside the garage entrance. “This room is so charming; I’d happily spend hours there,” Christie said laughingly. “One evening, the homeowners even hosted a cocktail party in the laundry room—it’s that inviting!” The entire project was a delightful experience for Christie, thanks to her fantastic rapport with her clients.
