On April 8, the first "large scientific installation" in Jiangsu Province — the "Nano Vacuum Interconnect Experimental Station" — held its preparatory meeting in Suzhou Industrial Park. The reporter was informed that once the project is completed, it will serve as the world’s first vacuum-connected nanotechnology public experiment platform, enabling researchers to conduct advanced studies in a controlled and extreme environment. The "Nano Vacuum Interconnect Experimental Station" will be based at the Suzhou Institute of Nanotechnology and Nano-Bionics, affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It will be jointly developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jiangsu Province, and Suzhou City. With an initial investment of approximately 1.5 billion yuan, the project will occupy about 150 mu (approximately 100,000 square meters) of land. Once completed, the experimental station will provide a full-vacuum, multi-disciplinary, interconnected experimental environment, supporting the development of new nanotechnologies, processes, and materials under extreme conditions. This will allow for the preparation, testing, and processing of nanomaterials in a vacuum setting, significantly enhancing the research capabilities and technological breakthroughs in nanotechnology. This initiative marks a major step forward in China’s efforts to strengthen its position in the global nanotechnology landscape, fostering innovation and collaboration across academic and industrial sectors.
