The world's first zinc-bromine battery energy storage mobile power system passed acceptance

The world's first zinc-bromine flow battery storage system designed for mobile power applications—the "New Green and Environmentally-Friendly Zinc and Bromine Batteries Energy Storage Removable Power System" has successfully passed inspection and acceptance, receiving high praise from State Grid Anhui Power Company's expert review panel. This breakthrough marks a significant step forward in the development of sustainable and efficient energy storage solutions.

Developed as a key science and technology project under the State Grid Anhui Power Company, this initiative was led by the Anhui Huaibei Power Supply Company in 2013. The project aimed to explore innovative approaches to energy storage, with a focus on environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.

As part of the project, Anhui Meineng Company's zinc-bromide flow battery was selected as the core energy storage component, while a domestically certified vehicle chassis served as the base platform. Through extensive research and testing, the project team made several improvements to the production standards previously set by the U.S.-based joint venture JBB (ZBB). These modifications not only enhanced the system's performance but also reduced reliance on foreign technologies.

The resulting system offers a range of notable advantages, including portability, large capacity (up to 100kWh), silent operation, eco-friendliness, rapid switching capabilities, and uninterrupted power supply functionality. These features make it an ideal solution for various applications, such as emergency power backup, remote power supply, and grid support during peak demand periods.

This advanced energy storage system provides strong technical support for improving the quality of power supply services, enhancing grid stability, and promoting the adoption of clean energy technologies in the region.
