The Schaeffler Group Industrial Division (INA/FAG) provides comprehensive bearing solutions tailored for continuous casting machines. Their product range includes full FAG cylindrical roller bearings for guide rolls, open and sealed FAG spherical roller bearings for positioning ends, INA needle roller bearings with zero section, and split FAG spherical roller bearings for driving rolls. Additionally, FAG special bearing housings designed for circulating water cooling are also available, ensuring high performance and durability. Over the past decade, the Schaeffler Group has been a leading expert in bearing applications within the steel and non-ferrous metal industries. Their latest development, the FAG cylindrical roller bearing, combines the advantages of full-complement cylindrical roller bearings and spherical roller bearings. Unlike traditional floating bearings that often require compromise, this new design offers a more efficient and highly satisfactory solution for the floating end of guide rolls in continuous casting machines. This FAG cylindrical roller bearing is capable of handling both radial and axial loads, allowing for displacement adjustment to compensate for misalignment. It can be quickly and easily installed using an aspirational floating concept. Designed specifically for continuous casting machines, it features an anti-corrosion coating and has been successfully tested across numerous guide rolls in well-known industrial applications. For the positioning end of the guide rolls, FAG recommends the use of spherical roller bearings. These bearings are ideal for handling high radial and axial loads, as well as misalignment conditions. Even under extreme working environments and heavy loads, they operate reliably and can accommodate shaft deflection and misalignment caused by support structures. Recent improvements in internal design have enhanced the dynamic performance of spherical roller bearings. The 240 and 241 series, with an outer diameter of 320 mm, now feature a new stamped steel cage that is heat-resistant and well-suited for the demanding conditions found in continuous casting machines. Many of these bearings require significant lubrication, but sealed versions have proven to be a cost-effective and environmentally friendly option. Compared to open bearings, sealed designs reduce grease usage by up to 80% and ensure long-term performance throughout the bearing's lifecycle.
