Chen Cai Reservoir will install more than 20 monitoring equipment Recently, technical staff from the Municipal Bureau of Telecommunications visited Chen Cai Reservoir to assess the site selection and installation of a new video surveillance system along the gallery. This advanced system aims to enhance real-time monitoring of the reservoir's surface conditions, helping the water quality protection team detect and respond to illegal activities such as poaching, unauthorized fishing, and littering more effectively. The first phase of the project plans to install over 20 monitoring devices, strategically placed in areas most vulnerable to theft, illegal fishing, and hard-to-reach spots. These locations have historically posed challenges for enforcement and management. The system is expected to be fully operational by the end of September, marking a major step forward in protecting the reservoir’s environment. Covering more than 3,000 acres, Chen Cai Reservoir is vast, and it takes about 30 minutes by boat to circle its perimeter. Regardless of the weather—whether scorching summer heat or freezing winter—the staff patrols the area daily. However, despite these efforts, the nature of water quality protection is often unpredictable and sudden. Even with regular patrols, it can be difficult to identify and address emergencies quickly. With the new video surveillance system in place, the team will gain a much clearer and continuous view of the reservoir, allowing them to act faster and more efficiently. This upgrade not only improves security but also supports long-term environmental sustainability, ensuring that Chen Cai Reservoir remains a clean and protected resource for future generations.
