Recently, technical staff from the Municipal Bureau of Telecommunications visited Chen Cai Reservoir to assess the site for installing a new video surveillance system. This initiative aims to enhance the monitoring capabilities of the reservoir’s water quality protection team, allowing them to keep a 24/7 watch on the surface conditions and detect illegal activities such as poaching, unauthorized fishing, and littering in real time.
It has been revealed that the first phase of the project will involve the installation of over 20 monitoring devices. These will be strategically placed in areas most prone to theft, illegal fishing, and other hard-to-monitor locations. The system is expected to be fully operational by the end of September, marking a major step forward in safeguarding the reservoir's environment.
Chen Cai Reservoir covers more than 3,000 acres, and it takes about half an hour to circle the area by boat. Regardless of the weather—whether scorching summer heat or freezing winter—the staff conducts daily patrols to ensure the water remains clean and safe. However, the nature of water quality protection is unpredictable, and even with regular checks, it can be challenging to respond quickly to sudden incidents. The new surveillance system is designed to address these challenges, offering continuous monitoring and improving the efficiency and responsiveness of the protection efforts.
