The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has recently released the "Conditions for the Construction Waterproofing Membrane Industry" to guide the sustainable growth of this sector. The goal is to address overcapacity, reduce redundant construction, optimize the industrial structure, promote energy efficiency, and enhance overall development quality and productivity.
These new access conditions cover seven key areas: site construction and layout, production scale, technology and equipment, energy consumption, environmental protection, product quality, safety management, occupational health, social responsibility, and regulatory oversight for companies in the waterproofing membrane industry.
In particular, for projects involving modified asphalt waterproofing membranes, the minimum annual production capacity per line is set at 10 million square meters. For new polymer-based waterproofing membrane projects, the required single-line capacity is no less than 3 million square meters annually. These standards aim to ensure that only high-quality, efficient, and environmentally responsible manufacturers can enter the market.
By implementing these regulations, the government hopes to foster a more competitive and sustainable industry, encouraging innovation and long-term growth while protecting both workers and the environment. This move also reflects a broader effort to align with global standards and improve the reputation of Chinese construction materials on the international stage.
