Estonia Successfully Trials Glass Coatings that Can Replace Shutters

Estonian scientists have used nanotechnology to try out a successful glass coating that can “transparently” and “transparently” convert “transiently” under the influence of an electric field, thereby easily replacing curtains or blinds.

According to an Estonian TV station on the 14th, the technology was successfully developed by researchers from the University of Tartu, Estonia. They used nanotechnology to develop a gel that was sprayed onto an ordinary transparent glass and the gel formed a 5 to 10 micron thick coating. The optical properties of the coating changed under the influence of an electric field. Glass can be controlled by the power switch to complete the transformation of "transparent glass" and "frosted glass" "in an instant."

The director of the Nanotechnology R&D Center at Tartu University, Ilima, said that this technology has been successfully tested on a small piece of square glass and has completed all laboratory testing procedures. Estonian scientists are considering how to apply this technology to large areas of glass.

Ilimamar said that if this research project goes well, they can use this technology for large-scale production within a year. By then, high-rise buildings such as office buildings and hotels in the world can realize the revolution of glass.
