Protein Shanghai facility five-line six-station user research in organic-inorganic perovskite materials

Protein-based Shanghai Five-line six-station user makes progress in the study of organic-inorganic perovskite materials

Recently, the team of National Institute of Protein Research (Shanghai) Five-line six-station user Beijing High-pressure Science Research Center Dr. Liu Wei and Kong Lingping researched the photoelectric response of organic-inorganic perovskite materials under high pressure conditions and cooperated with a number of organizations. Relevant results were published in the "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences" (PNAS) on July 21.

Organic-inorganic perovskite materials are considered to be the best choice for the next generation of photovoltaic materials due to their low cost and high performance. Although its photoelectric conversion efficiency has made breakthroughs within six years from its discovery, it has also encountered bottlenecks for further improvement. Previous studies have found that as the two key physical parameters that determine optoelectronic performance, band gaps and carrier lifetimes are difficult to optimize simultaneously using chemical modifications. This time, the research team Liu Xin and Kong Lingping from Beijing High-Pressure Science Research Center used pressure, a clean and effective means, to control the crystal structure and electronic structure of materials. The study confirms that at lower pressures, the bandgap is reduced by tens of milli-eV and the carrier lifetime is doubled, thereby optimizing the synchronization. This provides a solid experimental basis for revealing the high functionality of organic-inorganic materials and also provides ideas for the next step in the development of new materials.

In this work, the staff of the five-line and six-station infrared station (BL01B1) of the Shanghai facility actively participated and provided strong professional technical support for the experiment and made positive contributions to the publication of the results. The line station is the only infrared station based on the third-generation synchrotron radiation source in the mainland of China. Since its opening, it has provided nearly 7,000 hours of time service to various research institutes in China.
