Emerson's first hybrid laser analyzer provides the most comprehensive gas analysis (with photos)

On May 16, 2016, Emerson introduced the Rosemount CT5100 Continuous Gas Analyzer. The analyzer is the world's only hybrid analyzer that combines tunable diode laser (TDL) and quantum cascade laser (QCL) technology for process gas analysis and emissions monitoring. The CT5100 is a new addition to the Emerson CT5000 Series, offering the industry's most comprehensive gas analysis because it can detect multiple components down to the ppm level while simplifying operation and significantly reducing costs. Unlike traditional continuous gas analyzers, the CT5100 can simultaneously measure up to 12 key gas components and potential contaminants in a single system – to meet local, state, national, and international regulatory requirements.

The CT5100 can operate reliably without the need for consumable parts, the need for an on-site protection box, a simple sampling system, and no pre-treatment to remove moisture. This new gas analyzer is ideal for process gas analysis, continuous emissions monitoring and ammonia slip.

“With the increasing stringency of global regulations and the shrinking of experienced personnel in the plant, these have driven the development of a new generation of faster, more accurate and easier-to-use measurement technology.” Ruth Lindley, Product Manager, Emerson QCL Analyzer “The CT5100 represents an important step in this direction, providing an unparalleled sub-second response time, reliably measuring complex gas and exhaust emissions to ensure compliance and avoiding expensive fines or unplanned downtime.”

The CT5100 is the only product that combines advanced technology, high reliability and rugged design. The “Linear Frequency Modulation” technology extends the range of near-infrared and mid-infrared gas analysis to improve process visibility, improve overall gas analysis sensitivity and selectivity, eliminate cross-talk and reduce response time. Linear frequency modulation technology produces intense, sharp peaks from high-resolution spectra that uniquely identify components and minimize the effects of interference without the need for filtration, reference chambers, or chemometric operations.

“The CT5100 modular design and patented linear frequency modulation technology integrates six lasers in a single enclosure to provide a wider range of measurement capabilities and superior analyzer availability and lower maintenance costs.” North American Business Development Manager Dave McMillen “Starting and commissioning is very fast, and the labor and consumable costs required to maintain the analyzer are minimal.”
