How is the global titanium dioxide price affected by the paint industry?

It is understood that several major titanium dioxide (TiO2) producers in the world - CristalGlobal, DuPont, Huntsman, Tronox and Kronos have announced the second global price increase this year, effective from April 1. It was somewhat unprepared for the buyer, mainly because the demand for paint and coatings was expected to increase moderately.

On February 24, DuPont said that it will increase the price of titanium dioxide in the United States by 15 cents per pound, while the prices in Asia Pacific and Latin America will increase by 300 dollars per tonne. Saudi Arabia’s Cristal announced that it will raise the price of titanium dioxide in North America by 15 cents per pound; in the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, it will raise prices by US$300/ton; Oceania will raise prices by US$400/tonne.

Headquartered in the United States, Tronox raised prices in Latin America, Asia-Pacific and Australia by US$300/tonne, Europe, the Middle East and Africa by 225 euros/tonne, and Japan raised its price by 40 yen/kg. Huntsman also stated that it will increase the sales price in Europe by 175 Euros/ton, and Kronos announced that it will increase the price in the Asia Pacific region, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia by US$200/tonne.
